two weekends ago we got our christmas tree! it's one of my favorite days of the year. we went to the 14th street garden center in jersey city, as we usually do. this year, we decided to go a little smaller with our tree since space in our apartment feels more and more limited every day. as in every year passed, we got a really beautiful frasier fir that is now home and continuing to drink water like it's going out of style. here are some pics from our outing and decorating!
this weekend we really got into the holiday spirit! i had a few things on our holiday list to accomplish and i'm happy to say we did them all. we got our christmas tree and decorated it (more on that later!). we also took a ride out to PA to take penelope to sesame place! we did this last year and this year was even more fun since she was a little older and could really get into the rides.
it was a warm day and a lot more crowded than last year's chilly evening, but p still got to ride many rides, see the parade (and elmo, most importantly), deck out in elmo gear and eat copious amounts of popcorn.
we really had a blast and by the end of the evening, penelope looked like this:
a very rare occurrence for her!
the next day, there was a pretty awesome holiday market in jersey city, so we were up and out in the morning to get our food and shopping on!
there were so many cool vendors and so many awesome eats!
first thing, shaun and i picked up some beverages to sip on. Spiked cider for me and coffee milk stout for him, both from one of our favorite jc spots, the hamilton inn.
then, we saw our favorite ice cream, milk sugar love, and so i got a perfectly sized mini cone for penelope...
followed by this truly incredible peppermint mac daddy ice cream sandwich. i think it was a chocolate macaron, sandwiching peppermint ice cream and fudge. yeah, it was awesome. penelope and i shared this one.
shaun and i also sampled short ribs
followed by cheese curds. you guys, have you ever had cheese curds? they are one of the most amazing foods of.all.time.!!!!! part of my actually only wanted to hit the market for the curds alone because they are really THAT good.
also, penelope spent a lot of time in the stroller (still recovering from sesame place) and practiced her ipad selfie game.
so that was our busy yet incredibly fun weekend! more on decorating our christmas tree tomorrow!
a couple of weeks before thanksgiving, we spent the day visiting both of my aunts at their homes. both have the most lovely homes and properties with tons of space and incredible scenery. they also have a veritable petting zoo between them. bunnies. chickens. dogs. goats. horses. we all had a blast enjoying the fresh open air in the last days of fall, and penelope had the absolute best time ever feeding and playing with all of the animals. i hope we can bring her out again to visit over christmas vacation! here are a bunch of photos from our day, and a huge thank you to my aunts, uncles and cousins for always being so great to us!
it was such a fun day! i asked p what her favorite animal of the day was and she said it was the 'bunny rabbitttt!'
