Spiced Cake Batter Caramel Popcorn Party Favors

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.

I love everything about it. The food is delicious and plentiful. Table settings and decorations are all saturated in browns, reds, yellows and oranges. It's an easy day of family celebrating without the pressure of gift giving. What could be better than all that?

Every year, Shaun and I host a little Thanksgiving dinner with our friends. Over the last two years, we've deemed it Sweatsgiving...because sweatpants are required, making it a casual, fun night of eating and drinking.

To thank our guests for coming, I put together these sweet little party favors. Obviously it was necessary to send people home with even more food than we had just consumed. And since I have a handy little popcorn maker, I thought a seasonal popcorn mixed stuffed into my favorite Ball jars would be a fun and easy way to say Thanks.

Oh and we should talk about the labels. I can't stop staring at them! I did a quick design in PowerPoint using a little piece of art I found by doing a Google search and then added my own header and tag line. I printed them on a heavier stock of white paper and then simply mounted them on small pieces of seasonal scrapbook paper. Then, I punched a little hole at the top and secured them to the jar using some raffia. I just love the rustic yet sweet look of how these turned out!

And as for the popcorn mix? So so easy and when I put out some leftovers during dessert, it quickly became the hit of the party.

Spiced Cake Batter Caramel Popcorn Mix

*Adapted from Young Married Chic

**Makes about 10 servings

10C+ popped popcorn
1/2 cup of butter
1/2 cup of spice cake mix
1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of light corn syrup
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

 1 C white chocolate chips
Seasonal sprinkles

Pop your popcorn and place into a large mixing bowl and preheat oven to 250 degrees.

In a small sauce pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Quickly stir in the spice cake mix, pumpkin pie spice, sugar, corn syrup, salt and vanilla. Lower the heat to a simmer and stir constantly for about 3 minutes. Don't let the mixture burn!

Pour over the popcorn and use 2 rubber spatulas to toss the mixture all together. Pour in the white chocolate chips and sprinkles. Lay out on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes. Let cool, break up with {clean}hands and stuff into Ball jars.

Eat lots!

So there you have it. A super duper simple party favor that was a huge hit at our annual Sweatsgiving feast! I hope you enjoy!
