How was your weekend? We spent the weekend doing all kinds of fun fall things. One of the best parts of having a toddler is the awesomeness of doing activities with her, seeing it through her eyes, and also, getting to be a kid again myself. We drove out to western NJ on Saturday morning to Wightman's Farm. We arrived right when the farm opened, which is the only way to do it, in my opinion.
We were on one of the first hayrides of the day, and this is the best hayride I've been on. The ride went up into the mountain and overlooked the entire valley. It was so beautiful and peaceful.
After the hayride, it was pick your own pumpkin time, or in our case, Penelope picks all three pumpkins time. The price of the hayride included a pumpkin and a donut.
After pumpkins were picked, we headed into the farm store to claim our doughnuts and pick out some other treats, like apple butter, cider and cookies.
Once we were properly stocked, we headed over to the picnic area for finishing our snacks. Shaun picked up this amazing roasted corn, straight off the husk. As soon as Penelope spotted the corn, she claimed it as her own.
Then, we spent some time letting P run free and play on the kids stuff. There was a great tunnel that she loved, a 'carrot' forrest and bales of hay stacked like a jungle gym, with slides coming down. She climbed up - with a little help - slid down and would jump right up yelling 'again'!
It was such a great day and if you are in the New York City or New Jersey area, I highly recommend Wightman's. It had just about everything fall dreams are made of and was a short 35 minute ride from Jersey City.
We didn't even get to the pick your own apples or the corn pit or maze, yet still had 3 solid hours of farm time, just about all the fun P could handle.
