Over the holiday break, I resolved to take Penelope on a few adventures. And I know that the holidays are far behind us, but this was such a fun excursion and I love these photos, so I wanted to share it today!
First on the list was to ride the train into World Trade Center and meet Shaun at the winter garden 'luminaries' light installation. It's the first year of the holiday lights at the burgeoning downtown must-see spot and I'm so glad that we made the effort to go and see them. They were absolutely stunning. Hundreds of lanterns strung from the ceiling and they continuously changed color. I could have spent hours just staring at the lights to be honest!
Penelope and I hit the Path and headed on into the city. She absolutely LOVES taking the train.
One of my favorite things about New York City is the unexpectedness of things like this. A simple shopping space is transformed into an unusual must-see attraction. This is also why I love city living and especially living so nearby NYC. We went from home to lights in under 30 minutes!
In addition to the light installation, the winter garden had holiday trees and an outdoor ice skating rink, right on the marina overlooking the Hudson. Next year I definitely want to do that with Penelope!
After viewing and photographing the lights, we headed upstairs to the fancy food court for some umami burger for dinner. Shaun and I both went with the classic umami burger and a beer while Penelope chose simple salty fries and orange juice. Everything was delicious.
We topped off the evening with a trip to sprinkles for cupcakes (for me) and le district for fancy French lollipops and other sweets (for Shaun and P).
It was such a fun evening, topped off by another train ride home - Penelope's favorite!
