Hi everyone! Happy 2017! Can you believe it? I hardly can but here we are. We had quite a wonderful holiday season with P. She is at such a glorious age for all the Christmas things, and we've spent the last couple of months just soaking it up with her. Now that the new year has arrived, I'm excited to get back to blogging and preparing for the year ahead.
So it's been...erm...2+ months since I've blogged. I know I said I was back, but in addition to the holiday malaise (and let's face it, post-election depression) getting the best of me, I swear I have a really good reason.
We're having a baby! This June, we will be adding another member to our family, a sweet baby boy. We have hoped for and dreamt of this little one for quite some time now and we are just so thrilled and excited. As of now, I'm almost 18 weeks along and feeling significantly better than the first 14 weeks.
With P, I felt fairly fantastic the entire time and was the woman who continuously proclaimed how much I loved being pregnant...no morning sickness or anything of the sort. With this one, I was seriously nauseous 24/7 for 14 weeks, living mostly on plain cheerios, ginger ale and toast, waking overnight feeling sick, and, looking back on it, not totally sure how I made it through each day of work and taking care of a 3 year old. I'm so happy to be passed that stage! Because it felt so different this time around, I was fairly certain that we were having a boy. I know that no two pregnancies are alike, no matter what, but I just had this strong feeling about it...and I was right!
If you follow me on social media, I made the announcement on NYE alongside a note about how something about the end of a year often leaves me feeling depressed. 2016 has been a tough year for many of us, and, when it comes to the world, I don't think that will change much in 2017, sadly. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a small, nagging feeling in my gut that we will look back on 2016, saying, 'It wasn't so bad...' I just don't see any signs that things are looking up for the country or the world. I hope I'm wrong, though.
Despite all of that, I am still excited for the year ahead. P turns 4 in just under a month (how that's possible, I'm not sure) and we have the spring to get ready for this new little kiddo to join us. It's going to be a busy one!
Happy New Year, all! I hope it's your best one yet!
