This pizza dip is the most requested dish I’ve ever made! It’s a staple at all parties, gatherings, and especially football Sunday!
Of all the recipes, dishes and baked goods that I’ve ever made, this is by far the most beloved and most requested. I first posted this back in 2010, and if you check out that post, the pics leave a bit to be desired.
I’ve made this hundreds of times over the years and I thought it was time to finally update the photos to showcase this epically cheesy, delicious dish in all of its glory.
This dip is a football season staple. For me, the thought of sitting down for a day of games without pizza dip, just doesn’t jive.
Pizza dip is easy, it’s delicious and it’s a serious crowd pleaser. I love mine topped with turkey pepperoni, but this could easily be made vegetarian by replacing with peppers, olives or mushrooms, eliminating the toppings entirely. It’s a solid dip on its own without toppings.
World Famous Pizza Dip
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Keywords: dips, pizza, cheese, appetizer, par
Ingredients (4 - 6)
- 1 8oz. block cream cheese
- 1 1/4 C tomato sauce
- 1/3 C onion, finely chopped
- 1 C mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 C turkey pepperoni
- 1/4 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- tortilla chips, for serving
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spread cream cheese in bottom of 9 inch pie plate, or similar oven-safe baking dish (a foil pan also works!).
Pour tomato sauce over cream cheese. Add onions in an even layer on top of the sauce.
Sprinkle basil and oregano over the onions and sauce.
Pour mozzarella cheese to cover the onions and sauce entirely.
Lay pepperoni on top of cheese.
Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melty, brown and bubbly.
Devour immediately atop a scoop-style tortilla chip.
I recommend full fat mozzarella as it melts the best. Of course you can use reduced fat, but it may not melt as well
You can use fresh basil if available instead of dried. This is my favorite way, but fresh basil isn’t always on hand outside of the summer months.
I prefer turkey pepperoni because I like the texture and it’s less greasy. Yes, you can use regular pepperoni but it may be a bit more greasy.
